During our honeymoon, we spent a rest day in Santa Fe, New Mexico where we chose to stay at a nice hotel, La Fonda on the Plaza. When we entered our room, we saw a bottle of champagne – what a surprise! Okay, this should be attributed to our great friends Marissa & Drew. After imbibing a bit, we went to dinner at The Shed, where we had fantastic margaritas!
The next day we went to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum; I could have spent all day here, but we had errands to run and churches to see. We spent about 1.5 hours here first thing in the morning. I would recommend going early to avoid crowds and watching the 12 minute video before exploring the museum which gives an overview of O’Keeffe’s life.
After the museum, we went to the Loretto Chapel to see the mysterious staircase. Legend has it that this Chapel was looking for a carpenter to build a staircase to the loft, all local carpenters decided it would have to be a ladder. After days of prayer, a man suddenly appeared at the Chapel to build the staircase. He built this staircase with no visible support and was gone before he could receive payment.
After the Chapel we went to the pool and ordered margaritas. The perfect day!
